In complex projects like that one we are not able to define all the requirements at the beginning. To be sure that we would meet the deadline and carry out the project within the allocated budget, we decided to use the Agile methodology. It assumes a very close cooperation with the client who can influence the implementation throughout the entire duration of the project.
Our client was used to traditional project management methods. Since the project was a complex one, the deadline was tight and the budget fixed, the client agreed to trust us and go for the Agile methodology. Thanks to that we could be much more flexible and keep to the budget at the same time.
We started with drawing up a development plan for each portal. Next we split the project into 10 stages. Each time a stage was completed the client was provided with a working demo software in order to test it and give us the feedback.
Also, we decided to make use of the CAP budget tool. Thanks to the CAP budget the client can be sure that even if the implementation lasts longer than initially planned costs will be kept low in relation to the price quoted at the beginning of the project.
Both parties were fully engaged in the project execution. Frequent meetings – sprint retrospectives and stand-up meetings – were held. 4 month after the order had been placed we implemented and launched the key part of the project.
.NET technology was employed in the project.
